Compass depends on the energy, skill, and generosity of people who believe that no one in Bishopbriggs should struggle alone to find the care they need. Whether you have a few hours a month to walk alongside a new resident as a volunteer navigator, the capacity to make a financial contribution that sustains our work, or a professional network that could deepen our partnerships, there is a meaningful role for you here.
We are a small organisation that makes outsized impact, and every form of support is felt directly in the lives of the people we serve. When a new resident leaves their first session with Compass feeling like they finally understand the landscape of their new town, that shift — from anxiety to confidence — is the direct result of someone choosing to get involved.
That someone could be you.
Each form of support is different, and each one makes a direct, traceable difference to the people we serve.
Our volunteer navigators are the heart of Compass, and we provide full training, ongoing supervision, and a genuinely supportive team around you. We ask for a commitment of around four hours per month and offer flexible scheduling to fit around work and family life. Many of our navigators were themselves new to Bishopbriggs when they found Compass, and chose to give back once they found their feet. That shared experience is one of the most valuable things you can bring to the role.
Apply to volunteerA donation of any size directly funds the practical work of orientation — from the printed health maps we produce for every new resident to the travel costs that make our Wellbeing Walks accessible to everyone. As a SCIO, your donation goes exactly where it is needed, and we will always tell you how it has been used. There is no administrative buffer between your generosity and its impact: everything we receive goes into the work, and we publish our accounts annually so you can see exactly where it goes.
Make a donationIf you work for a local employer, housing association, school, or health service, a formal partnership with Compass can help you reach new residents more effectively and ensure that the people you work with have access to the health navigation support they need. We are always glad to explore what collaboration might look like. Our existing partnerships with Bishopbriggs Health Centre, East Dunbartonshire HSCP, and Bishopbriggs Library show what can be achieved when organisations commit to working together rather than alongside each other.

"She filled in the map." 🗺️
"The training Compass gave me was genuinely thorough. I knew the local service landscape far better than I had expected to, and the team's support when I hit something I wasn't sure about was immediate. Four hours a month doesn't sound like much, but the conversations you have in those four hours stay with people for years."
